Atlanta floods ARE crazy !

I just wanted to do a quick post to let y'all know I am still doing my HCG diet, but haven't posted in a few days due to the floods here in Atlanta.  But I am hoping to get caught up here tonight after I get home from work.

I am working on a project at work that the dealine is in a few weeks, so I had to work this weekend.  Then on my way to work Monday morning I was stuck in traffic for 5 hours !!!!  There was a land slide on HWY 78 so I was stuck there for 2 hours before I could finally get turned around.  Then when heading the other direction (still trying to find a way to work) I got stuck for another 3 hours as a river had overflowed and trapped a bunch of us in a small strip.  After 5 hours I finally made it back home.  I dont think I ever made it a few miles from my house on HWY 78, but had to go about 20 miles out of my way to find a road that wasnt flooded to slip back into my subdivision.

Now dont get me wrong, I am grateful that I didnt have any flooding myself as there are many who have lost their homes or business.  But wow, what a pain this has been.

Anyway, I have had to work a lot of overtime (yes I even worked about 10 hours AFTER I finally got back home Monday).  And it has left me with no time to update my blog.  So when I get home tonight I am hoping to get my progress updated here.

Well, off I go to work - gotta pick up my supplies and HCG at the post office on the way in.  PO wouldnt leave them at the door, I am assuming due to the floods, so I have to stop and pick them up.

EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY !

R1P2D9, 284.0, -0, TOTAL -12.0 -- First no loss day

No loss is no surprise really, as I drank diet coke and missed a whole meal yesterday.  Also no BM this morning.  (TMI haha but those trying to find out if this is for them, this is a reality in any diet that does not include enough fiber).  I drank some smooth move tea and that did the trick (found at Krogers in the health food section)

So today is the weekend and I am totally on plan.  I will just need to be more careful at work, make sure I take my lunch break, and dont forget to take in my water.

I am having some thoughts today about food I would like to have, but not as bad as the first few days on VLCD.  Not sure if its from missing food yesterday, let down of no loss, or its the 2nd day after no injection.  But I am staying strong and not going to run down to the quicktrip and binge on junk haha. (doubt that is the no injection day as I have not heard of that being an issue - but I will watch next week to see if there is a pattern)

Well to fight this urge to eat MAC & CHEESE, I am going to get a cup of choco almond tea :)

Everyone have a GREAT DAY!
(how many days is it to P3?  haha)

R1P2D8, 284.0, -1.5, TOTAL -12.0 -- Week 1 is complete!!!

Well its been a heck of a week, 2 days of loading (eating as much as I could even though I wasnt hungry), doing HCG for the first time, giving myself injections for the first time EVER(scary as heck, but actually easy after the first one was done), and eating what in the past I would have thought was a crazy crazy small amount of food.

And here I am, 12 pounds thinner !!!  wooooohooooo

I actually lost the same amount on my first week of medifast, but that didnt include 2 days of loading.  Plus I have high hopes that not only am I losing weight, I am also fixing my messed up metabolism from years of yo-yo dieting.  Plus I am looking forward to Phase 3, which is now 1 week less away haha, and learning to add back food and keeping within 2 lbs of my weight.

I was on medifast for 6 months and lost 115 lbs, but as soon as I starting adding food back, besides losing my gall blader, I started packing on the lbs.  On medifast there was no fruits, but you got about 100g carbs per day thru the shakes/soups/bars, so here I am actually getting less carbs.  But man, my strawberry shake is da bomb - never had anything as good as it!  Cant have that on medifast haha.  The main concern I have on this is if I am getting in all my vitamins and nutrients, with medifast I knew I was cause it was built into the shakes/soups.

Today was my first day back to work since being on the plan.  I was a good girl and took my food, but forgot my dang water.  And we have no bottled water at work, and I cant STAND tap water (atlanta water is nasty).  I use a brita filter at home.

Unfortunatly I was so busy (you know how it is after a weeks vacation, emails, people in your office, pure craziness) so I missed my lunch break.  Uggggg.  So all I had all day was my strawberry shake (strawberries, water, ice, and the pink sweetner) and some coffee in the morning.  I got desperate and bought a diet coke from the vending machine - my first one since on plan.  So I am hoping that wont mess me up for tomorrows weigh in.  I didnt miss the food, wasnt hungry, but did get a little light headed in the afternoon,  I move around a lot at my job most days, so I think it was a little to much.

Anyway, I am home and have gotten some food in me.  Betcha I wont forget my water again haha.

R1P2D7, 285.5, -1.0, TOTAL -10.5 No injection today

Today was my first "day off of injections" day.  If you are doing a 40 day round, you are supposed to take one day off a week from injections so your body doesn't become immuned to the HCG.  I was curious if I would feel different, more hungry, obsessing over food, etc.  But nope, nadda, nothing different.

Lost another pound overnight. Wooohooo.  Maybe could have been more, but I am still not able to get more than 40 oz of water in + my coffee and tea.  So again, I will try to get in more today.  One of these days I will actually get there!

Today is my last vacation day and must return to work tomorrow - boohoo.  So I spent some time today adding some reviews and links to my blog.  And I will need to cook up my food for tomorrow's lunch when I cook my dinner.  It will be my first day at work since being on plan.  All will be fine as long as I plan ahead.  I am going to take my evening fruit with me too, just in case my blood sugar crashes, so I will have something on plan to eat if it's needed.

Well, that's all I got today kids.  Life is good, HCG is great, I am losing, what more could a girl ask for?  Hmmm to hit the lottery so I dont have to go back into work haha.  Ahhh I girl can dream :)

GENERAL HCG PROTOCOL INFO - IS THIS FOR YOU?

Here are some things to read to help you decide if this is for you.  If you decide you want to research further, see the links at the bottom of this post to hcgdietinfo.com and it's forum, for even more info.  The links on the left side of my blog also have some good info on where to buy and more informational sites.  I have even done a review/lengthy description/notes/hints of those links to give you more info before checking them out - click here for that info.

Please NOTE that the info below is not my info, but rather an attempt to put it in one place on my blog for quick reference for myself and others.  I have gotten a LOT of useful information from hcgdietinfo.com and it's forum and you will find lot's of links on my blog to them - so thank you all at hcgdietinfo.com for your GREAT site.

First, you need to read Dr Simeon's Protocol.  Here is a download pdf version of it
DOWNLOAD the protocol pdf here

The following links are some very helpful things found on the hcgdietinfo.com forum pages.  You can find even more by going there and searching for Newcomer in the title search.  And I recommend you do so, but for a quick reference, here are a few that I feel will really help you make some decisions and to decide if you want to spend more time researching further.

When researching HCG I found this great video on how/why HCG works, why it's important to drink tons of water, what happens to the fat cells as you lose weight, etc.  Just note that the video is done by a center that adds things to the original protocol.  If you look on my reviews page it will give your more info on the center and my opinion about the non original protocol items, but I am placing the link here for you to watch to see how HCG works.

I wanted to just give you a few links here to get started on your research.  But a great place to go for even more info is here:  hcgdietinfo,  then after you have read up on it there, go to their forums and read, read, read.

MY RECOMMENDED SITES AND WHY - AKA MY REVIEWS

Hey folks!

I have a list of links on the left side column, but seeing how I have so much energy (and time right now thanks to a few vacation days), I decided to give a little info of why I chose to list those links.  :)

This is a great place to get a lot of HCG info.  It has a wealth of information and it's not trying to sell you anything, so you are not getting a sales pitch version of info.

You can read the Dr Simeon's Pounds To Inches Protocol manuscript, check for places to find clinics in your area or online, and on and on.  It does have a lot of google ads, so if you decide you want to order HCG, don't pick a place based on a google ad there, but instead, go to the forum there (my next link) and do searches there for recommended places to buy.  It is also important to decide if you are going to do homeopathic HCG drops(HHCG), RX HCG drops, or RX HCG injections, and this place has a lot of info to help you decide.

While doing research, I found this great video about HCG, why it works, how it works etc.  I actually almost used this HCG center, but at the last minute decided against it, as it adds a shake a day, oil, and supplements to the diet, which is not original protocol.  But the video is the best I have seen to explain how HCG works, why it works, what happens to the fat cells as fat is reduced and replaced with water then shrink, hence the importance of water.

I can not recommend the center simply because I have not used them, but that is not to say it's not a great place to use for your HCG center if you choose to go through a Dr.  They are actually one of the best prices I have seen for a center and they will do online/phone consult and RX.  But I also don't know how much is added on to that great price for their supplements/shakes, or if those things are optional if you want to stick to the original protocol.

But the video is a must watch for those wanting to know about how HCG works, just remember that when they talk about shakes and supplements that it is not part of the original protocol.  And if you decide to check out the center, check into their reason for the supplements, cost, and results they have seen using their own tweak of the original protocol, and if their supplements/shakes are optional if you want to stick to the original protocol.

This is my FAV HCG forum, and trust me, I have checked a bunch out.  (I am a research queen haha).  This place is very active, lots of experienced HCG-ers who are very kind and helpful.  There are people who are doing homeopathic (HHCG), HCG drops and injections.  Other forums tend to have all of one type.

There are several threads directed at newcomers, so use the search option and search for newcomer in the title and read those before you start asking questions  That will get you more informed to ask better questions and at the same time, cut down on re-posts of the same questions.

In case you can't tell, I LOVE this place and highly recommend it.

This is actually a low carb forum, but they do have threads for HCG by month, and a nice HCG recipe thread.  (use the search option to find the HCG threads).  The group in the HCG threads are very helpful and kind, and I do check in there daily, but because they don't have their own sub-category, the thread moves very fast and is hard for my brain  (and time constraints) to follow it without sub-categories.

I did notice that there are some threads where HCG was attacked by some of the low-carbers, so perhaps that's why they stay to themselves. (Kinda ironic in my opinion, as low carb is often attacked so to turn around and be critical of others non-conventional choice was kinda odd)  I read a some of them, but honestly don't care to look at them again as it was a waste of time and irritating, but that is your choice if you want to see some of the criticism and the responses to it.

Anyway, in my opinion, it's worth checking out to see if you click with the gang there, they are nice folks.

First of all let me say that going to a clinic or through one via internet will give you DR supervision, but will be more costly than ordering on your own.  Some choose to go the first round through a clinic for the supervision.  I almost did, but after much research, chose to do it on my own.  I also choose to do HCG injections rather than homeopathic drops(HHCG), to stick to the original protocol as much as possible.  Many have reported good results with HHCG.  I have not posted any links to HHCG sites as I am not experienced with it.

If you are going the non homeopathic route, and on your own rather than through a clinic, this is the place to go.  I got my HCG kit in 3 days.  Bob and his wife have lost a lot using HCG and now help others out by selling it and other health products.  The instructions for mixing were very thorough and easy.  Bob is a trucker and is on the road sometimes, but I got email responses very quickly from both him and his wife.  They have a forum there that does have some good info, but it is not very active.  So I would recommend if you have a question, email them.  There are also a lot of folks on the hcgdiet forum mentioned above that are using his product so you can get info there if you are needing immediate response to a question like mixing, usage, etc.

NOTE - They ship 5000IU amps, which will last 21 days.  Many recommend that you mix every 10 days as HCG loses potency over time.  So, if you want 2000IU amps so you can mix more often, contact him for the price difference of shipping those instead.  I didn't know about that before I ordered, so I am using the 5000IU as per mixing instructions, but throwing out after 10 days and have ordered more 2000IU to finish this round.

If this is your first round and you are nervous about mixing and such, this would be a good place to start, rather than ordering separately on your own, as you order from one place and can get questions answered.  This is what I did, but am now confident enough to order from other places on my own to save even more money.  It's also a good place to order if you need it quick as it is in the good ol USA.

If you decide to get your product from other than Bob, you will need to order the HCG in one place, and your supplies in another. This place has all the supplies in one place, at a decent price, with decent shipping charges and delivery time.  You can get things cheaper than here, if you are willing to shop around and pay shipping charges at more than one place, but it was worth it for me to get it all in one place.

If doing injections you will need to order the following:
Vials - I choose 20 ml as I am going to mix 2000IU with 10ml bac water for a 10 day supply of 200IU
Alcohol Prep Pads
Bacteriostatic Water
Insulin Syringe with Needle, 29 G X 1/2" 1 CC
Shipping was $9.95 for USPS PRIORITY

NOTE: You can also order a mixing syringe for each mix, but I am going to try to use the injection syringes to save money.  It will take more patience and time to mix, and havent tried it yet.  So if it is to much of a pain I will add that to the list haha.

This is where many are ordering from (I haven't yet) and is one of the cheaper places to order from.  It takes 2-3 weeks to get as it is shipped from India.  It's a little over $9.00 for a 2000IU amp.  I think someone said the shipping is $20, so order what you think you will need for your rounds at once to take advantage of one shipping charge.  Unless you are just starting and don't want to invest a lot until you have tried it out and are confident you want to proceed with multiple rounds.

NOTE: I have ordered from another company with even cheaper prices, but is new to the scene.  So until I recieve my product and have an opinon on them, I will not list them as a recommended link.  But if they are good, then I will add them here.

I LOVE this thing.  By plugging in your start date, it calcs your end dates for P2,P3,P4.  It has 21 day and 40 day protocal sheets.  It has a place for your measurments, summaries by weeks, etc.  It has everything you need to track your progress.

HINT:  I copied the 40 day sheet multiple times as I am planning on doing multiple rounds.  Plugged in my start date, then took the end date of P3 as my start date in the copied sheet and waalaaa, I had my dates planned out for all the rounds I am planning.

When you get into P3 you are going to minimize starches and sugars.  I have used this place for years for low carb foods.   I get my Waldon Farms, low carb tortilla shells, low carb muffin mix, protein shakes, and stevia products from here.

They have cheap prices, lots of different products with client reviews, and a flat rate shipping of $4.95 regardless of what you order.

Hope this is helpful.  If you have any suggestions on other great sites to add to this, post a comment and I will check it out.

Have a great day everyone!

R1P2D6, 286.5, -1.5, TOTAL -9.5 In the groove now !

Another 1.5 lbs gone overnight.  It's so exciting getting up and checking the scale now.  I mean really... I have  been on healthy home delivery fresh meals for a few months now, and didnt lose in a month what I have lost in 3 days.  Pretty cool man.

Well I seem to be in the groove now, no headaches, no major cravings, and no hunger.  I can't imagine doing a triathlon right now, but that time will come again.

I had the most amazing breakfast this morning.  6 strawberries, 1 packet of the pink stuff, ice and a little water, whipped up in the magic bullet.  HEAVEN !!  It's the best strawberry shake I have EVER had.

I watched Biggest Loser opener this morning (had to watch Big Brother finale so didn't catch BL last night).  It touched my heart so much.  Watching what people have went through and how their lives have been affected by their weight, made me cry.  And made me think about how my weight has affected my life.  And how I don't want it to continue effecting me.  So I am even MORE committed now to make sure this is a life change and not just a diet to get some weight off.

It looks to be an exciting season, and maybe a little less drama than in the past few seasons.  It seems in the last few seasons they tried to pick some drama queens and a few hard core game players, which I didnt enjoy.  But this season it seems they have focused on people with some tough pasts and that viewers can relate to.  I only saw one guy that seemed a little cocky, unfortunately he didnt go home, but his partner did.  Which was sad cause I thought she would have done a good job there.

Well I guess I have rambled enough about Biggest Loser, but then again, that shows I am not obsessing over what I can't eat today, or feeling like crap haha.

Am excited to see what tomorrow morning's weight will be.  I am really trying to pump the water, but that seems to be the part I am struggling with the most.  I told myself I would get a gallon in today, but at this point I am not sure if that's gonna happen.  Well, it's storming out so I better sign off of here.  Dont want my laptop to get zapped :)

R1P2D5, 288.0, -4.0, TOTAL -8.0 - WOW 4 lbs overnight

I had to step on the scale several times because I just couldn't believe it.  4 lbs after a 3.5 lbs loss day just amazes me.  I am starting to believe that, like all of the folks I have been following on the forums that are losing 25-45 lbs in 23-40 days, this COULD WORK FOR ME!!!  How cool is that!

Well today was much better, headache gone, no fighting the urge to eat.  I haven't been hungry since I started, just a few days of fighting the urge to have something that wasn't on plan.  But I stuck it out and it seems the urges have passed.

My guess is it's similar to low carb plans, it takes a few days for your body to deplete its carbs stores, then starts living off your fat.  And when you have depleted those stores, you are no longer hungry and have lots of energy.  Can you tell I have done low carb before haha.

Well, that is about all I got today.  I have more energy so I am off to do some things around the house.

Cant wait to see what the scale shows tomorrow !

R1P2D4, 292.0, -3.5, TOTAL -4.0 - got a dang headache

Well, that is no surprise as I lost 3.5 lbs yesterday and I normally get headaches when starting a low carb diet.  And this is low carb, low cal, no diet coke, etc.  But I also know from experience that this will pass in a day or two.

I am not missing my diet cokes, which is odd, as I had been drinking more diet coke than water prior to starting my HCG plan.  I am having more coffee and tea though.  And trying real hard to get my water in, but so far have only managed about 70 ounces a day.

Still not hungry today, but did feel a little mental "I want something else" about mid day.  But it passed and I am thinking tomorrow will be easier.  The headache is now just mild now compared to the raging one from earlier today.

I did use a few spritz of ICBINB on my fish tonight.  Some folks report that the can use it in P2 without issue, some can't.  So I will see tomorrow morning how that went.  I really doubt that I will use it again anyway, as it didn't really add much to the taste.  But I do need to find some seasoning for fish.  Chicken and beef, no problemo, I have lots of Ms Dash for those.  I am just not used to cooking fish.

Its been a long day trying to get this blog started, so time to go nighty night.  Cant wait to see what my weight is tomorrow :)

R1P2D3, 295.5, +0.5, TOTAL -0.5 - let the weight loss BEGIN !

Ok, today is first day of VLCD and excited to get started!

I am a little nervous, as I have never been on a diet with this low of calorie intake.  I did medifast which is 1000-1200 calories and 80-100 grams of carbs.  Lots of protein through out the day though, which was good for my hypoglycemia.

For breakfast I had an apple, and although I was not hungry and it seemed like enough, my blood sugar immediately took a dive, and I was a cranky puss.  I need to combine fruits with protein because of my hypoglycemia and new this might be a problem.  But I wanted to see if the HCG would help with that or not.  Nope, it didn't, so moving forward, I will need to split my protein from lunch/dinner into 4 so I can have with my fruit for breakfast and fruit for evening snack.

The HCG is supposed to help with hunger, which it has, help you to burn your fat, which time will tell, and to help reset your metabolism.  I have read great things from many places that this really works, so I just need to follow the food plan and walk the walk.

I did well today, not hungry, but in the late afternoon/evening found myself mentally wanting food.  I know from other diets that this will pass so I just need to ride it out.

In my morning weight in I lost 3.5 lbs !  I have never lost that much in one day.  WOW !!

R1P2D2, 295.0, -1.0 , (LOAD DAY2) gotta try to get in as much fat as I can

Well I lost a pound from load day 1.  Some folks gain a lot on their load days, but I am really trying to focus on high fat, and to minimize the carbs and sugar. You can have the carbs and sugar, but the main goal is to load the fat.  And I just don't want to have to lose anymore than I have to.  But I will let myself have one carb/sugar treat that I won't be having for awhile - ice cream.

Ok, 3/4 lb of bacon, 1/2 can of cashews, a chili dog and onion rings, and a pint of low sugar ice cream.  Man oh man, did I have to force that down.  I am just not hungry at ALL.  The chili dog and onion rings had me feeling like oil was oozing out of my pores - nasty nasty.  But it did taste good :)

Well, the result was a 1/2 lb gain, so not to bad considering all the junk I ate.  Am excited to get started tomorrow on the VLCD (very low cal diet) and get the weight loss phase going.

I am shooting for a 40 day cycle to start, followed by a 21 day Phase 3 stabalization period.  Then a few more cycles of the same.  Most people lose between 25-45 lbs on a 40 day cycle if they have a good amount to lose.  My hopes are high that this initial round will be enough to make it easier to start mild work outs again.  I miss working out SOOOO bad, but after the back injury, just walking can trigger the pain again.  I am sure getting some of this weight off will help me to at least start walking again.

R1P2D1, 296.0, START(LOAD DAY1) - Excited to get started!

Well I was excited to get started, but nervous to give myself an injection for the first time.  But after reading all the info in the "HCG Weight Loss Cure Guide" by Linda Prinster, and all the info on my favorite HCG forums, I sucked it up and gave it a whirl.

It really was easy to mix, and the shot didn't even hurt.  All that fretting over nothing. HA!

Day 1 is supposed to be a LOAD DAY, and I had big plans of all the fattening foods I was going to eat (yes I am anal and had an actual list haha).  But within an hour or so, I just wasn't hungry.  I went to Hardee's to get a gravy bowl, and I couldn't even finish it !

You are supposed to load up on high fat foods, but not lots of sugar and carbs.  But you also know that you are not going to be able to eat most foods while on phase 2, so you also want to get some of your favs in.  This process fuels you for the actual fat loss.

I ended up eating 1/2 can of cashews (lightly salted), most of the gravy bowl, and 1/2 of a meat pizza minus the crust.  But honestly, I really had to force that down.

Felt pretty good :)

ABOUT ME

49 Year old Female
5'8 muscular build

HCG Start Weight 296
Highest Weight 335
Normal Weight for me 170

Started Round 1 Phase 2 of HCG injections on 9/11/09

I was an athlete most of my life, but have struggled with weight as I settled into my computer career and had to work lots of overtime. Less time to work out and eating lots of take out rather than healthy food. In addition, I am hypoglycemic and very carb sensitive.

In 2008, I had finally gotten back to a good weight for me, 170, from my highest weight of 335. But a serious back injury, 4 middle back epidurals of steroids, over a year in pain, inactivity, and depression over the whole thing - and well - eating crappy again - has taken me back up to the 290's.

After much research, I found out about HCG and it made a lot of sense to me.  More sense than any diet I have tried or come across.

Dr Simeon's has done his research, and treated many clients with much long term success.  I am surprised that this plan has been buried for so long, especially with so many folks searching for a REAL cure.

Now don't get me wrong, losing weight quickly is very appealing, but I am also interested in learning to eat better even after the weight is gone, and to KEEP it off.  I truly believe that this is a better way to lose as it is supposed to burn up your fat stores as you lose, rather than your muscle and vital organs. And the process of the phases seems to me like a very good way to learn as you go, to have a better relationship with food.

I have been on many a diet where you are supposed to do maintenance after you lose, but come on, who really completes maintenance?  This protocol allows you the opportunity to lose in phases, with breaks in between of sound eating, hence a chance to learn how to keep it off.  And the phases should make it easier to stick to the plan, as you can do anything for a short period.  That allows someone who has a lot to lose to think its NOT gonna be a year of NO food.

Well, there is actually science behind the phases, to do things like reset your metabolism and setpoints, but hey I am a food junky, I need to know that I am not going to be on rabbit food for a year haha.

So this blog is about my journey down the HCG path. I think it could be helpful to myself and others to blog during this process. So....

WELCOME, and Thank You for sharing the journey with me :)
